 Standards Formulation

The Erstwhile Indian Standards Institution (ISI) Was Established In Year 1947 (Now Bureau Of Indian Standards) With The Objective Of Harmonious Development Of Standardization

 Product Certification

The Bureau of Indian Standards, empowered through an Act of the Indian Parliament, known as the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 1986, operates a product certification.

 System Certification

Bureau of Indian Standards has been operating Management Systems Certification Scheme Since 1991 under BIS Act, 1986 and Rules & Regulations.      

 Laboratory Services

Quality of testing is assured through regular Quality Assurance Testing programmes as well as participation in Inter laboratory Comparative and Proficiency Testing.

 Hallmarking

Hallmarking is the accurate determination and official recording of the proportionate content of precious metal in precious metal articles. Hallmarks are thus official marks

To establish, implement and review the Mission and Vision of the organization through Citizen Charter To redress the complaints within the stipulated time as     

 Foreign Manufacturers

Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has been operating a Foreign Manufacturers Certification Scheme (FMCS) since the year 2000 under BIS Act, 1986 and Rules & Regulations framed there under.
