JDBO is currently holding 482 product certification licenses covering 138 Indian Standards, with a balanced composition of both mandatory and voluntary Indian Standards. Being located in the heartland of the steel city and due to regulatory focus on products covered under certification schemes, the average growth of JDBO has been at par with the national average. JDBO is also currently holding 810 hallmarking licenses, and after the introduction of the mandatory hallmarking scheme, the growth has been exponential.

History: JDBO was earlier an Inspection Office facilitating product certification activities for nearly the last 40 years. On 01-01-2014, it was upgraded to a Branch Office with jurisdiction over the state of Jharkhand due to its increased importance.

License Composition: The major products under certification within the jurisdiction of JDBO belong to CED, FAD, MED, MTD, ETD, etc. These include Packaged Drinking Water (IS 14543) – 95, Billets/Ingots (IS 2830) – 29, Portland Slag Cement (IS 455) – 27, HSD Bars (IS 1786) – 21, Casing Pipes (IS 12818) – 13, LPG Cylinders (IS 3196 Part 1) – 11, Rotational Moulded Water Tanks (IS 12701) – 8, Structural Steel (IS 2062) – 8, etc.
