Scheme for setting up of Assaying and Hallmarking Centers in India with Subsidy by Government of India



 

The
Government of India approved a scheme on pilot basis to provide central
assistance to entrepreneurs for establishing Assaying & Hallmarking centers in
35 select districts during the year 2005-07 in the Xth Five Year
Plan. The Scheme was extended to XIth & XIIth Five Year
Plans also.

 

The
Central Scheme envisages creating of countrywide infrastructure for assaying &
Hallmarking of gold Jewellery. There are presently 231 A&H Centres of which 43 A
& H Centres have been given financial subsidy from the Plan funds. Efforts are
being made to publicize this financial subsidy scheme, which included regular
advertisements in the print media, continuous display on BIS website etc.

 

The
Scheme has two components namely:-
A)  
Infrastructure
Building:

BIS recognized centres have been provided subsidy.


B) 
Capacity Building:

   

 57 Artisan Training Programmes have been organized.

   

— 
13 Training Programmes for A&H Personnel have been
organized.

   
— 
Three Training of
Trainers programmes for BIS officers have been organized.

 

The
rates of subsidy as applicable for setting up of A&H Centres w.e.f. 9 December
2010 are as follows  :

Bureau of Indian Standards invites Expression of
Interest from prospective entrepreneurs for ‘Setting up of Gold Assaying and
Hallmarking Centres’ in India in locations where no Assaying & Hallmarking
Centre (assisted or otherwise) exists through its website. The Utilization of
central assistance received from Government of India since Xth Plan
is given below:
