Manak Pravardhak Programme - Engagement of Young Professionals in Standardization work of BIS
In order to engage Young Professionals in its Standard formulation work, BIS has instituted the Manak Pravardhak programme. It is a comprehensive programme comprising of a two-day training cum workshop for orientation of the young professionals, which is followed by post-workshop activities to effectively engage them in BIS’s standardization ecosystem.
The program aims to empower young professionals with the knowledge and skills to navigate and contribute effectively to the international and national standards ecosystem.
Following the workshop, activities such as the following are undertaken:
- Providing the opportunity to participate as observers in BIS Technical Committee meetings deemed relevant to the YPs
- Encouraging YPs to comment on draft Indian Standards
- Periodic virtual forums to catch up and share ideas
- Invitation to events of national importance organized by BIS
- Subsequently, it is intended to include them as experts in the Sectional Committees and encourage them to participate in national and international standardization activity.
The eligibility of the participants is as follows:
An Indian citizen
Young professional (under 35 years of age)
Have an active and professional interest in standardization
Availability for the entire 2 days of the YP programme workshop
The programme is open for the following individuals:
- Faculty members of MoU partner Academic Institutions
- Representative of organizations represented in BIS Technical Committees, Member of Industry/Industry Association/Standardization cell of Industry Associations/Ministry, and
- Representatives from State Government departments
