International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is an independent, non-governmental international organization with a membership of 161 national standards bodies. Through its members, it brings together experts to share knowledge and develop voluntary, consensus-based, market relevant International Standards that support innovation and provide solutions to global challenges. Being a national standard body of India, BIS is member in following ISO Committees related to PCD. Participation in ISO activities includes making comments on ISO documents, approval/disapproval of ISO documents, participation in ISO meetings etc.

ISO/TC 28/SC 7 Liquid Biofuels
iii) ISO/TC 45 Rubber and rubber products
Standardization of terms and definitions, test methods and specifications for rubber in any form, rubber products (including their dimensional tolerances) and major rubber compounding ingredients..
By agreement with ISO / TC 61, coated fabrics, flexible cellular materials, footwear and hose, whether made of rubber or plastics, are also dealt with in ISO / TC 45. In the case of speciality hoses of strong user interest to other TCs, e.g. TCs 22, 44, 67, and 131, TC 45 will mutually agree with the user TC concerned on the appropriate method of establishing or revising the International Standards concerned.
Excluded:
Note::
By agreement, standards in relation to thermoplastic elastomers are developed and maintained by ISO / TC 45 and by ISO / TC 61.
a)ISO/TC 45/SC 1 Rubber and plastics hoses and hose assemblies
Standardization of rubber and plastic hoses and hose assemblies associated with industrial, chemical, automotive and hydraulic applications including hose test methods.
Excluded are some hose standards that are specific to applications which are drafted by other ISO committees.
b) ISO/TC 45/SC 2 Testing and analysis
Standardization of methods for physical testing and chemical analysis of rubbers and thermoplastic elastomers, materials and products, including application of statistical methods.
Excluded are, unless otherwise agreed, tests specific to one product as well as chemical analysis of raw materials.
SC 2 is one of the sub-committees under ISO/TC 45. The extent and limitation for the products involved is given by the scope for ISO/TC 45.
c) ISO/TC 45/SC 3 Raw materials (including latex) for use in the rubber industry
Standardisation of methods for testing and analysis of raw materials for use in the rubber industry, including:
Excluding methods for testing and analysis used for compounded and/or vulcanized rubber.
SC 3 strives to produce specifications for materials for use in the rubber industry. If more than 4 countries are opposed to specifications at CD or DIS stage, property values for those materials shall be included in an annex in the appropriate test method document
d) ISO/TC 45/SC 4 Products (other than hoses)
To prepare and maintain all international standards for semi–finished and finished products made from rubber materials, except those specifically assigned to other Technical Committees specified in the scope of ISO/TC 45. Excluded are hoses (dealt with by TC 45/SC 1).
iv) ISO/TC 54 Essential oils
Standardization of methods of analysis and specifications for essential oils.
v) ISO/TC 61 Plastics
Standardization of nomenclature, methods of test, and specifications applicable to materials and products in the field of plastics including processing (of products) by assembly in particular, but not limited to, polymeric adhesives, sealing, joining, welding.
Excluded: rubber, lacquers.
Note 1: By agreement, standards in relation to thermoplastic elastomers are developed and maintained by ISO/TC 45 and by ISO/TC 61.
Note 2: Jointing technology (including equipment and training) between plastic pipes (including all types of reinforced plastics), and/or fittings, valves and auxiliary equipment, and the assessment of the properties of the resulting joints are developed and maintained by ISO/TC 138.
vi) ISO/TC 83 Sports and other recreational facilities and equipment
Standardization of terms, dimensions, tolerances, functional, operational and performance requirements and safety requirements, as well as their testing, for sports and recreational facilities and equipment (e.g. ropes courses, playgrounds, inflatables, water slides, camping tents, floating leisure articles, sleeping bags, winter sports equipment, ice hockey equipment and facilities). Excluded are amusement rides and amusement devices covered by International Standards within the scope of ISO/TC 254.
vii) ISO/TC 83/SC 5 Ice hockey equipment and facilities
viii) ISO/TC 181 Safety of toys
Standardization of toys with respect to safety relating to their mechanical, physical, chemical and flammable properties.
Excluded:
ix) ISO/TC 193 Natural gas
Standardization of terminology, quality specifications, methods of measurement, sampling, analysis and test for natural gas and natural gas substitutes (gaseous fuel, including biogas, biomethane, coalbed methane, shale gas and wet gas), in all its facets from production to delivery to all possible end users across national boundaries.
Recognition of work related to natural gas in other technical committees and in liaison with these technical committees.
a)ISO/TC 193/SC 1 Analysis of natural gas
x) ISO/TC 217 Cosmetics
Standardization in the field of cosmetic products
xi) ISO/TC 238 Solid biofuels
Standardization of terminology, specifications and classes, quality assurance, sampling and sample preparation and test methods in the field of raw and processed materials originating from arboriculture, agriculture, aquaculture, horticulture and forestry to be used as a source for solid biofuels
