Keeping the Safety and Quality Concerns of Stakeholder BIS issues Certification Marks Licences for manufacturing various products such as Cement, Steel, Packaged Drinking Water, Jute Bags, Plywood etc and ensures availability of Quality Products to the needy.

Many of the districts of Andhra Pradesh are diversified in Geography, Culture and Lifestyle. Main objective of the BIS is to ensure that the Quality of Products being enjoyed by Consumers of Cities and Towns and benefits of availability shall also be equally enjoyed by Villages and Tribals etc.

Therefore, all efforts are being put to achieve the objectives with the help of Consumer Organization and with the Co-operation of respective Government Organizations.

VJBO has a jurisdiction over 13 Districts of Andhra Pradesh, as under:

VJBO is the custodian of more than 724 Product Certification Licences and more than 785 Hallmarking Licences. With more and more products being brought under the ambit of Compulsory Certification by the Central Government and with the development of quality consciousness amongst the consumers, around 15 new certification licences are added each month for different products under VJBO.

History Of VJBO, Vijayawada

Initially all the Districts of Andhrapradesh was under Hyderabad Branch Office, Later on Visakhapatnam Branch Office was open to give better service on 01st Jan 2002 with 05 Districts. After Formation of Telangana on 02 June 2014, remaining Districts of Andhra Pradesh was comes under Visakhapatnam Branch Office and becomes 13 Districts jurisdiction.

On 06 July 2022 Branch has been shifted from Visakhapatnam to Vijayawada and giving the services to entire Andhra Pradesh in the name of Vijayawada Branch Office(VJBO)
