In the ongoing years, the scope of the laboratory started increasing and it was felt to have a separate setup of laboratory and therefore, the facility was shifted to present location in Sahibabad in year 1973.
Finally, the foundation laying ceremony of Central Laboratory was done by Shri C. Subramanium, Union Minister of Industrial Development & Science and Technology and President of ISI in 24th March 1973, at Industrial Area, Site 4, Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh 201010. Central Laboratory was among those laboratories which had established their competency by getting NABL accreditation as per ISO/IEC Guide 24 in 1997- 98 in 1995.
Now, with the increased certification activity, Central laboratory have developed testing facility of around 700 verities of products which includes the products of Mechanical, Electrical, chemical, microbiological and Referral Assay

NEW INITIATIVES:
Modernization of Lab:
Helmet Testing: Helmet testing section have been modernized with the latest available test equipment across the world and developed State of Art testing facility for testing of Helmets of two wheeler riders as per IS 4151:2015.
 
New Testing Facilities:
State of art Testing facility have been developed with the latest available equipment and infrastructure in the following areas:
  • Electrical and Non-Electrical Toys
  • Medical Testing (Coverall, Face shield, thermometer, gloves, surgical blade, mask etc)
  • Safety footwear
  • Energy Meter
 
Regular Ongoing Activities:
  • Upgradation/completion of Testing facilities as per Indian Standards
  • Expansion and Renovation of all Testing Sections
 
Major Events:
Started training programme for Quality control personals from Industrial and successfully completed following programmes:
  • Certificate course on Assaying and Hallmarking.
  • Certificate Course for Quality Control Personnel in Mechanical Testing.
  • Exposure Visit of BIS officers at CL to understand the Laboratory Activity.
  • Successfully registered as Skill India Training Centrefor Certificate Course on Assaying and Hallmarking as per IS 1417:2016.
  • Training for Certificate Course on Assaying and Hallmarking as per IS 1417:2016 from 1st March 2021 to 3rd April 2021.
  • Started training programme for industrial persons.

Central Laboratory is regularly celebrating Hindi Pakhwara, Swacchta Pakhwara, BIS Foundation Day, Vigilance Awareness Weeketc
