GREEN INITIATIVE BY BIS – ROOFTOP SOLAR POWER PLANTS AT BIS OFFICES
As part of the Green Initiative of BIS, Rooftop Solar Power Plants are being installed in BIS buildings in different locations through the agencies of Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).
Till date, 394.4 kW of rooftop solar power plants have been installed in the following locations. The solar energy generation from these plants can be monitored in real-time online through following links:
1. New Delhi (100 kW)
2. Chennai (100 kW)
3. Mumbai (40 kW)
4. Noida (50 kW)
5. Hyderabad (40 kW)
6. ERO Laboratory Kolkata (40 kW)
7. ERO Kolkata (24.4 kW)
BIS is extending the initiative for installation of rooftop solar power plants to other buildings with rooftop potential.
BIS has also implemented Net Metering at its buildings in New Delhi, Noida, Hyderabad, and Kolkata. Through net metering, solar energy exported to the grid during closed days is metered and accounted for in the energy bill, resulting in financial gains to BIS. BIS is extending the net metering initiative to other buildings where solar power plants are installed in collaboration with SECI and concerned state electricity authorities.
