Jaipur Branch Office was established on 15 September 1977 to serve Rajasthan, India’s largest State by area. A land of rich heritage, vibrant art and culture, abundant natural resources, highly skilled human resources and entrepreneurship, Rajasthan is fast emerging as a key industrial destination in India. Due to the rapid increase in BIS’s presence in the state and inorder to provide better services to the stakeholders, the state was bifurcated geographically into two branch offices i.e. JPBO-I & JPBO-II w.e.f. 01 March 2021.

JPBO-II caters to the industries in 22 Districts of the State of Rajasthan namely Alwar, Barmer, Bharatpur, Bikaner, Churu, Dausa, Dholpur, Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Jaisalmer, Jhunujhunu, Jalore, Jhalawar, Karoli, Kota, Nagaur, Pali, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand, Sikar, Sirohi and Udaipur. Major Activities of JPBO-II include Grant of product certification licenses and monitoring their performance, Grant of Hallmarking registrations and monitoring their performance, Standards promotion and Consumer Awareness & Protection Activity.

JPBO-II is certifying 160 different Indian Standards and major products covered under certification include Plastic Pipes & Fittings, Air conditioners, Heat Exchanger Product, Electric cables & Conductors and Motors, Energy Meters, Heater, Electric Conduits and Poles, Electric Iron, Steel Products, Safety Glasses, Food products such as Packaged Drinking Water, Milk Powder, Iodized Salt etc, Cement, Outdoor Type Distribution Transformers, Plywood & Wood Products, LPG Cylinders and Valves, Refrigeration valve etc. In addition to the above, JPBO-II has more than 3000 Registrations for hallmarking and currently 25 Assaying and Hallmarking Centres are working in the districts under its jurisdiction.
